Transfer: Rashford returns to Man Utd as Barcelona’s €30m buy option officially expires

Marcus Rashford has returned to Manchester United, after Barcelona’s option to sign him permanently expired.

This means the loan arrangement between the two clubs has now ended.

The clause had a €30million fee if Barca wanted to keep Rashford.

According to ESPN, the agreement covered two seasons running until June 2026, with a purchase option set at €30m across three €10m instalments through 2028.

This was designed to ease pressure on Barcelona’s financial fair play position.

However, the June 15 deadline has elapsed without the LaLiga giants triggering the option.

Rashford, who is currently at the 2026 World Cup, is expected to resume pre-season training under Michael Carrick.
