FCT: Construction projects in Wike’s DNA – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, for his works in the capital city, stressing that projects are embedded in his DNA.

Tinubu said Wike took his developmental strides from Rivers State to the FCT.

He spoke during the flag-off ceremony of the construction of service carriageways of the Southern Parkway, from Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya way) to Ring Road II.

Tinubu, who was represented by the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, flagged off the project to mark his third anniversary in office.

He said: “Let me pause here to express admiration for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. You have earned your name Mr projects, most people thought that it was only in Rivers but you have shown clearly that it’s in your DNA to always do projects. From your action you have shown that truly you are Mr Project.

“Since you assumed office, you have awakened abandoned projects, you set clear targets and delivered them in record time, you have brought discipline, vision, and political will to the FCT.

“You are domesticating the Renewed Hope Agenda across every district of Abuja, Nigerians are seeing it and I’m also seeing it. The transformation orientation under your leadership is real, aspiring, and all I can say is that well done Mr Minister.”

He also assured that the parkway when completed would ease vehicular movement with the area.

“It’s my singular to be here to flag off the construction of the two service carriage ways of the Southern Parkway from the Arterial road S20 to Ring road 2 in the Federal Capital Territory.

“In line with the Abuja master plan when fully developed, it will enhance vehicular traffic within the Southern part of the city and provide vital inter district connection across phase one to phase four of the FCT.

“We have already delivered the main carriage way, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu way was completed and commissioned earlier in this administration, now we are adding the service lanes to complete the vision. This service carriage ways are not a luxury they are at ease and to give access to our people.

“Why does this matter to the citizens because today, the residence of Durumi, Kudu, Gaduwa, Jikwoyi, and the mass housing estate in phase face heavy vehicular congestion daily in E2, Abubakar Salami way and S20- Oladipo Diya way especially at peak periods.

“When this service carriage ways are completed that pain would reduce if not eased completely. Traffic will flow, travel time will drop, family will spend more time together, and that is the dividend of democracy and that is the Renewed Hope that you can feel and touch everyday,” he said.

The president noted that the flag off is part of his infrastructural revolution he promised the capital city and Nigerians.

“This flag-off is part of the broader infrastructure revolution we promised Nigeria, in the last three years, we have refused to accept excuses, we chose actions. From Aerial to Arterial road N20 now Wole Soyinka way to N16, interchange linking Jahi and Gwarimpa, the roads in Kuje, Gwagwalada, Mabushi, and the FCT is transforming before our eyes.

“The Southern Service service lane will further decongest the city, accelerate development of the Southern axis and bring socioeconomic benefits to the residents of the areas,” he added.
