Veteran journalists call for peaceful governorship election in Ekiti

The League of Veteran Journalists in Ekiti State has appealed to all stakeholders, particularly politicians and other partakers in the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 20th June, 2026, to avoid violence and ensure a free and fair poll.

The appeal was contained in a communique issued during a monthly meeting held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.

The League, under the chairmanship of Prince Kayode Oni, observed that Ekiti has remained politically peaceful for a long time, noting that they would want the trend to continue.

The veteran journalists stressed that all eyes are on the people of the state

They also used the occasion to call on the the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, “to conduct the governorship election according to the rules without bias”.
